Cupcake Fight

Today is new release day at The East Wind, and today's new image is 'Aurora "Cupcake Fight"'. It's a perfect image for a birthday card.

I coloured the image with Copics, and all of my paper and embellishments are from Stampin' Up. The "Happy Birthday" stamp is from Rubbernecker Stamps.

Come back next week for another new release! In May we are going to have a challenge on the challenge blog, so stay tuned for that and make sure you are checking in on the Facebook page for all the latest news from TEW. It has been a bit quiet lately, while Unky took care of some personal business, but we're getting back to business this spring. Make sure you join us!! xx

Love Birds

It's Team 1's Sweet Sunday at the Rubbernecker Stamps blog and the DT ladies have created some lovely cards for our team post. I used "Love Birds" and "Just a Word" for my card this week.
Love Birds
I used my Stampin' Write markers in Brights from SU to colour the individual parts of the Love Birds stamp. I think this is a really cute stamp and versatile too. You could use it for a wedding, anniversary, Valentine's, or even a birthday card for your better half. 😉 You could use any sentiment you wanted, but I picked "Just a Word" for this one. Most of the paper is from my scrap pile, which is becoming way too big so I have tried to use some of it up with some recent cards. The Sahara Sand paper I used as the base for my stamping is from Stampin' Up. The ribbon is from May Arts.

If you haven't stopped by and checked out the new challenge that went live this week, pop over there and check it out now by clicking HERE. The theme is April Showers (April Showers Bring May Flowers). The prizes are a 1st prize $25 gift certificate, and a 2nd prize $15 gift certificate to the Rubbernecker store.

You can follow me on social media by clicking on any or all of those little icons under "Stay Connected" on the right side of the screen. I have been a bit quiet these last couple of months because all four of my kids have been in activities and I have been swamped with parenting duties. None of that has changed, in fact things have only gotten busier, but I am going to make a concerted effort to get online more often. xx

Dancing Cats

Happy Monday! It's time for a new Rubbernecker Stamps card and the beginning of Team 1's week, including a new challenge starting on Tuesday. Today I have used "Dancing Cats" and "Your Own Drum" for today's card.
Dancing Cats
I heat embossed the cats and used a sapphire blue embossing powder. All of the paper I used is from my scrap stash. The blue paper is iridescent but you can't see the shimmer in the picture. The ribbon is from May Arts.

Tuesday, April 11 is the beginning of a new challenge on the BLOG. Head over there and see what the new challenge theme is and enter your creation for a chance to win either a $25 or $15 gift certificate to the store. There are some amazing new stamps and die sets in the STORE, and they're going fast!

Easter Pastels Challenge at Aurora Wings

It is time for a new challenge at Aurora Wings and the theme is "Easter Pastels".

I used the new "Spring Sprite" from last week's new showcase release for my card.
Spring Sprite
I coloured the image with Copics. I tried to keep my colours light while still giving some depth to the image. My flowers and other embellies are all from Live & Love Crafts, except for the butterflies which are a Martha Stewart punch. My "happy easter" stamp is from Stampin' Up.

Please make sure you stop by the challenge blog for some other beautiful inspiration from my Stella DT sisters. There are some seriously beautiful creations there this month, as there are EVERY month! There will be 1 (one) Artist's Choice Award Winner to be selected from entries using Aurora Wings digis ($20 GC and Badge); 1 (one)  Random Winner ($20 GC); Top 3 Winners to be chosen by the DT ($10 GC and Badge). Build A Garden

For Team 1's Sweet Sunday post I used the new Build a Garden stamp and coordinating die sets.

The paper is from Stampin' Up. I love these new sets that you can stamp and build and layer. The dies are very high quality and they are a lot of fun.

A new challenge is up and running on the BLOG so go and check it out. The theme is "Easter" so you have no excuse to not join in. I KNOW you have someone to make an Easter card for! 😉 The prizes are a $25 and a $15 gift certificate so don't pass up that opportunity! Fishing with Rubbernecker Stamps

Today I am using a new stamp and coordinating die set from Rubbernecker called Fishing 1 and Fishing 1 Die Set.

I have a little fisherman in my life who absolutely doesn't drink beer, but he'll like the fishing theme and there are other sentiment stamps in this set for the little fishermen out there. 😉 The wood paper is from Tim Holtz, the wood grain embossing folder that I used is from Stampin' Up.

Stop by the BLOG and check out our new challenge on Tuesday, March 28. There are some great prizes to be won. These new clear stamps and coordinating die sets are just awesome so head over to the STORE and check out all the new releases. There are only a limited amount in store!

Build a Scene

For the Rubbernecker Sweet Sunday post, I used new photopolymer stamp and die sets to build a little scene for my card. I really love these stamps and the versatility they have to do what I did for this card. This stamp set is KKCS Outdoor Master and the Outdoor Master coordinating die set. and the Happy Birthday set #3031

You can see that I stamped in grass and flowers at the base of the tree before I added my fence.

Here is a close up of the fence, the flowers and grass that I added in front of the fence die cut. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I did the sky with a couple of blue shades from the Tim Holtz distressed ink collection, then I stamped the sentiment with the same shade of blue.

This was a lot of fun! Stamping the scene then using the dies and more stamps to add some dimension to it really makes it pop. I am totally going to do this again, but I think I might incorporate some heat embossing to give it more texture. And I am definitely going to try it in some fall colours. How pretty would that be?!

We started a new Rubbernecker challenge this week on the blog, so make sure you pop over there and see what the theme is. The prizes are pretty awesome: a $25 GC for the 1st prize and a $15 GC for the 2nd prize.

A Basket of Flowers

Today I have a card that I made with some new photopolymer stamps and coordinating dies from Rubbernecker Stamps. They are brand spankin' new and this is a sneak peek for all of you who love Rubbernecker; these new clear stamps and dies are not even available in store yet. Sorry to tease you, but I couldn't wait to make something with them! They don't have a name yet. They are simply numbered #3008 and the coordinating dies are 3008D.

I used all the individual flowers that are in this stamp set instead of making a bouquet of just one type of flower. It will give you a better idea of what you get in the collection, and how it looks stamped out. I used foam dots to make the blooms rise off the page a bit.

Even the basket is a die cut. It's a really fabulous set of stamps and the dies are a great quality.

I hope you like these as much as I do. Hopefully they have them in store very soon. I am itching to get my hands on some more, but there were just a few of them released to each of the DT so we could start playing and spreading the word about them. Make sure you are signed up for the newsletter so you are getting all the latest news (like when these hit the store!!). You can sign up at the bottom of the homepage screen.

We are starting a new Rubbernecker challenge this week on the blog, so make sure you pop over there and see what the theme is this week. It starts tomorrow, Tuesday, March 14. The prizes are pretty awesome: a $25 GC for the 1st prize and a $15 GC for the 2nd prize.

Butterfly Sprite

It's time for a new challenge at Aurora Wings and the theme is "Sprite Delight IV". There is also a FREE new Pansy Sprite image available for the duration of this challenge, just visit the challenge blog to get your copy.

I used Butterfly Sprite Fancy Wings for my card and I went a little shabby chic with the design. For this challenge you have to use an Aurora Wing sprite, but not the sprites with the "big eyes".
Butterfly Sprite Fancy Wings
I coloured the image with Copics (V20's, RV10's, Y38, Y17-Y11, W's).
The rest of my ingredients are listed below:
DP - Stampin' Up
Lace - Live & Love Crafts
Die cuts - By DIEzyne stictched circles and Dotty Wings & Puffy Things
Butterfly embossing folder from Stampin' Up
Pearls from Martha Stewart Crafts

Please stop by the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog to see what amazing projects the other DT ladies have created for this challenge. I assure you they will blow you away when you see them. And pop down to the bottom and enter your own creation for a chance to win. There will be 1 (one) Artist's Choice Award Winner to be selected from entries using Aurora Wings digis ($20 GC and Badge); 1 (one)  Random Winner ($20 GC); Top 3 Winners to be chosen by the DT ($10 GC and Badge). Blooming Poppies

It's Team 1's Sweet Sunday at Rubbernecker Stamps, and today I made a card with the watercolour stamp "Blooming Poppies" and the "Distress Oval" stamp.
Blooming Poppies
I kept the design CAS. The stamps are pretty big and I did not want to crowd the card with a sentiment. This card is 5.5" x 4.25". The watercolour stamps from Rubbernecker are multi piece stamps. Blooming Poppies is a two piece stamp: the outline and the petals of the flowers. I stamped the outline of the stamp first with black Ranger Archival Ink., giving it a few minutes for the ink to dry. Then I used Calypso Coral ink from Stampin' Up for the flower colour stamp. I misted my watercolour paper, then inked my stamp. I sprayed my inked stamp with one spray of water and then put it on the damp paper. I held it down for about five seconds to give the colour time to set and then lifted the stamp. Voila! I finished it off with the Distress Oval stamp to give it a frame.

We are starting a new Rubbernecker challenge this week on the blog, so make sure you pop over there and see what the theme is this week. It starts tomorrow (Tuesday, February 28). The prizes are pretty awesome: a $25 GC for the 1st prize and a $15 GC for the 2nd prize.

March Freebie at The East Wind

Today I am bringing you a card I made with the free March image for newsletter subscribers from The East Wind. It is called "Bloom with Spring Sunshine". It's a bit of a part 2 of February's freebie image.

I coloured the image with Copics. The DP is from Stampin' Up, the butterfly and circle die cuts are from By DieZyne. I don't think you can get those dies anymore, which is a shame because they are really nice, but I'm lucky I got them before they went out of circulation.

Make sure you pop over to www.theeastwind.com to sign up for the newsletter if you aren't already, so you're not missing out on that free image every month. Look for the bright pink box on the right side.

Star Flower

Happy Monday! Today I'm using a background stamp called "Star Flower" from Rubbernecker Stamps, along with a sentiment stamp from the "Freehand Border Phrase Set".
Star Flower
I used the Star Flower stamp with Versa Mark ink and clear embossing powder to heat emboss the stamp. The butterfly die cut is from CC Designs. I layered it together with some pink lacy ribbon from May Arts. I used a butterfly embossing folder from Stampin Up on the back mat.

Below are the stamps I used for my card today:

Lady Rory

Today is another new release day by The East Wind, and the last for February. The new image is 'Aurora "Lady Rory"'. All of Unky's new releases this month were inspired by her South Korean roots. I used some vibrant colours for this card, but left the embellies to a minimum.

Aurora "Lady Rory"
I used an Asian inspired embossing folder from Cuttlebug for the mat on this card. I love the paper lanterns! I actually used it on the reverse side of the embossing. I think you can see the relief better (or maybe it's just my imagination). The floral die cut is from Stampin Up, as is the red and yellow paper (Regals colour collection). The very back mat is from the DCWV Asian mat stack that I have had FOREVER. I like to hide things like that in box, put them in my craft closet, and forget about them. Every once in a while I go on a treasure hunt to see what I can find that I've "lost".

Now remember, TEW is offering all the new releases for this month in a bundle to save you money, BUT it's only available for the month of February and then you have to buy them piecemeal. So you only have a few more days before February is over! Start shopping! 😉

Nine Tailed Fox

Hello! I'm bringing you a new release from The East Wind called "Gumiho - Nine Tailed Fox".

I coloured the image with Copics. The paper and flower die cuts are all from Stampin' Up. I used E18-11 for the fox colours, and BG07-000 for her dress. The lace is from Maya Road.

There are only a couple more days left to enter our "Love and Romance" challenge on the blog. I KNOW you made a Valentine's Day card for your significant other. 😉 Check the challenge rules out HERE.

Poppy Field

It's time for Team 1's Sweet Sunday post! I used the watercolour stamp Poppy Field for today's card. I also used a sentiment stamp from the Freehand Border Phrase Set.

I mixed the crimson and the blue from the Ken Oliver Color Burst Brights set with some water in a mister and made a dark purple. I sprayed the watercolor paper with water, then sprayed the stamp with my purple mist and stamped it on the damp paper. I held it down for about ten seconds to let the colour soak into the paper and then lifted the stamp. I was lucky to find some paper scraps that perfectly match the colour I created with the Color Bursts. I embossed them with a Cricut embossing folder. I added black dots with a Perlen Pen from Viva Decor randomly around the card to finish it off. I love that Perlen Pen. I think I need to buy a whole bunch more in a variety of colours.

A new challenge was launched on the Rubbernecker Blog on Valentine's Day, so make sure you pop over there and check it out. There are two prizes of $25 and $15 up for grabs!

Fluttering By

Hello! Today I have a card I made using Butterfly Inchies and Fluttering By from Rubbernecker Stamps.

I made the background with the Inchies stamp and Ken Oliver Color Burst pigments. I sprayed a piece of watercolour paper with some water and then sprinkled the orange, yellow and crimson pigments from the Brights collection right on the wet paper. The colours took over and spread creating a colourful background. Because watercolour paper is not smooth, you can't see all the detail of the stamp, but when used on smooth stamping paper, it has nice, clean, detailed lines. It's a perfect stamp for creating a background. I used it on a previous card with Versamark ink and clear embossing powder. You can see that card here: http://colourmyhearts.blogspot.ca/2016/07/rubbernecker-stamps-showcase-butterflies.html . The butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch, my other paper is from Stampin' Up.

Please stop by the Rubbernecker blog for bi-weekly challenges. We have a new one starting on Tuesday, February 14. The prizes are a $25 gift certificate for 1st prize, and a $15 gift certificate for second prize.

Mardi Gras Colour Challenge

It is time for the first challenge of 2017 at Aurora Wings. Our challenge theme is a colour challenge in honor of Mardi Gras, so we want to see you use green, gold, and purple in your project.

Snapdragon Sprite
I have used Snapdragon Sprite for my card. I coloured the image with Copics, and used a variety of paper scraps from my stash. I also used two different gold ribbons, some paper flowers, a heart that I crocheted myself, and some filigree corners that I painted with Pebéo gold paint.

Please stop by the Aurora Wings Challenge blog and enter your own creation for this challenge. While you are there, check out my fellow DT sisters' amazing projects and leave some love for them. ❤ xx

Simply Fabulous

It is Team 1's Sweet Sunday post at Rubbernecker Stamps, and I made a simple little card you could use for a birthday or "just because". The sentiment is "Simply Fabulous".

I had some scraps of some really pretty glitter butterfly paper from Kaisercraft in my stash. I used that along with some Bo Bunny dots paper in a pretty mauve colour. The ribbon is from May Arts. The super awesome people at Rubbernecker bought the DT a bunch of ribbon from them to make our cards with. Isn't that the coolest thing?! It is a really awesome team to be on.

The Rubbernecker site has been overhauled and has a whole new look. Make sure you check out some of their awesome new water colour stamps, and sign up for the newsletter so you're kept up to date with new releases and sales.

For those of you looking for a challenge... Check out the current challenge and the rules on the Rubbernecker BLOG and enter your Love and Romance themed card for a chance to win. Be My Valentine

Today is a new challenge at The East Wind. We are doing a Love & Romance Challenge theme because it's Valentine's Day right around the corner. Show us your creations with a TEW image for a chance to win one of two prizes! The first prize for DT favourite is a colouring book by Unky and a $10 gift certificate to the TEW Etsy store. Second prize winner will be chosen by Random.org and is a $10 coupon and a postcard designed by Unky.

I used the new Aurora "Be My Valentine" image for my card. It was just released last week and it is perfect for this challenge. It is also part of a four image bundle from January that you can get until February 5, after that day you will only be able to buy the images as singles. Hurry over to the store and snap it up while you can. As a special though, the image I've used is on sale for $2 for a limited time.

Aurora "Be My Valentine"
I coloured the image with Copics and all of my paper is from Stampin' Up, along with the die cuts and the "Be Mine" sentiment and banner stamps.

Please join us for the challenge and make sure you are signed up for the newsletter to get your free image every month. We look forward to seeing what you come up with for this challenge.

Love and Romance Challenge

Welcome to Rubbernecker Stamps second challenge! The theme is "Love & Romance", as it should be with Valentine's just around the corner. I am using a stamp I have used before, but I love it, so why not?! This is "Peanut Butter":

I have used "Stacked with Love" paper stack from Stampin' Up for this card, with some black pearls, and red ribbon from May Arts. I used black embossing powder on the sentiment to make it really pop out.

The Rubbernecker site has been overhauled and has a whole new look. Make sure you check out some of their awesome new watercolour stamps, and sign up for the newsletter so you're kept up to date with new releases and sales.

Best Friends

Team 1 is back with some more Rubbernecker inspiration for you! Today I have used "Best Friends," "Cat Suits and a Plan," and the Distress Frame stamp.

I coloured the image with Copics. All of my DP is from Stampin' Up. I used the Elegant Dots embossing folder also from Stampin' Up, along with enamel hearts from SU. The circles are punched out with a By DieZyne stitched circle die.

The Rubbernecker site has been overhauled and has a whole new look. Make sure you go check it out when you go to see some of the new stamps they have in store. We have a new challenge starting on Tuesday, January 31. Kiandra

It's Sweet Sunday at the Rubbernecker blog! And this sentiment stamp... Yes! That is exactly right. A truer stamp was never made. Hahaha! I have used the stamps "Kiandra" and "Tired of Shopping" for my card this week. I just barely, using the lightest shades, coloured in the image. The paper is so vibrant, I didn't want a really vivid image. And it felt a little more retro to me to leave the image mostly alone.

The paper is from Stampin' Up; the stitched dies are from By DieZyne. I don't think you can buy them anymore, but they are some of my favourites. Rubbernecker is going to be producing dies in the future so I am VERY excited about that!

As I said earlier this week, the Rubbernecker site has been overhauled and has a whole new look. Make sure you go check it out when you go to see some of the new stamps they have in store. We started a themed challenge on JANUARY 17!!! The theme is BIRTHDAY! I'm sure you know someone with a birthday, so go check out the challenge rules on the Rubbernecker BLOG and enter your Birthday themed card for a chance to win. The first prize will be a $25 USD gift certificate to the Rubbernecker store. The second place prize is a $15 USD gift certificate. That is pretty awesome! These are definitely some of the best rubber stamps I have ever worked with, hands down!

Suse

It is Team 1's week to bring you some inspiration from Rubbernecker Stamps, and I have done a cute little card with "Suse". I have also used the sentiment stamp "Be Your Own", and the "Distress Oval Frame" stamp.

The DP is from DCWV. The die cuts are from Stampin' Up, as is the metal pearl accent. I coloured the image with Copics.

The Rubbernecker site has been overhauled and has a whole new look. Make sure you go check it out when you go to see some of the new stamps they have in store. We are going to start having themed challenges, beginning JANUARY 17!!! Make sure you check it out on the BLOG to find out what our first theme will be. It will go live 2:00 PM EST/11:00 AM PST. The first prize will be a $25 USD gift certificate to the Rubbernecker store. The second place prize is a $15 USD gift certificate. That's pretty awesome! These are truly some of the best rubber stamps I have ever worked with. The detail is amazing. I haven't had a bad stamp yet. They are perfect!

An Angel and Changes at TEW

Happy New Year to everyone! I'm trying to get back into the swing of things after Christmas break, but it's proving to be harder than I expected. Life is just crazy these days!

We are going through a few changes at The East Wind. There will be no more monthly challenges in the Facebook group, and no more twice monthly challenges on the blog. We will aim to have approximately one challenge per quarter on the blog and will run contests and games in the Facebook group. Unky's art is expanding into other areas and she is finding she has less time to dedicate to digis, but she doesn't want to quit creating them altogether (thank goodness), so releases will be just one a week now, with the new release day being Wednesday. She is also offering a package deal on the digis she releases each month, so you can get all four of them at a discounted rate. The package deal is available in the Etsy shop along with all the other digis.

Now on to this week's new release, "Angel with striking blue eyes":

I used the fantastic Detailed Floral thinlit dies from Stampin' Up to make this card. I keep forgetting I have them, and then I when I remember it's not at all the right thing for my project. Until today!!! Yay! I really love how it turned out. It's simple and pretty and perfect... just like the image. 😉

Please join us on Facebook and sign up for the newsletter on the blog to get your freebie on the first of the month. That is something that is NOT changing, and you don't want to miss your free image!!

What's Better Than Wine?

Not much... Except maybe some awesome stamps about wine from Rubbernecker Stamps. It's time for Team 1's Sweet Sunday blog post and here is my make for this week:

Watercolor Wine Bottle Stamp
I used the new watercolor stamp "Wine Bottle" and the funny sentiment stamp "Good Man" for my card. I kept the design pretty simple but went with some flashy paper from DCWV Black Currant stack for the mat. I used a black Perlen-Pen from Viva to make my black dots. I love these pens. There is a lot of product in the tube, and you can make dots as small or as big as you like. They dry quick too and stay raised instead of falling flat. The watercolor stamp is two pieces: an outline stamp of the bottle and the watercolor stamp for the wine.

Remember, commenting on our Design Team's posts every week automatically enters you to win all of the stamps used on one of the DT ladies' project. We don't know which designer's project will be chosen, and the winner will be chosen by random. So visit the Rubbernecker blog, leave some kind words on all of our DT's blogs, and maybe you will be this week's winner! For all the details visit the challenge page on the blog HERE
